First blog entry of 2015 and one of many entry's (crossing fingers).
Yesterday we had our second meeting for the combined film and animation project with a few presentations and comments. Kimberly, Don, An and Callum brought ideas forward. I was quit taken with Callum and his story synopsis. Others, in my group, commented on that and asked me why? In my reply to that the reason is the fully (in a degree) fleshed out story look and narration (voice over) of the story. I already could see certain scenes in my mind and visuals. An and the presentation she gave got my mind rolling also, but in lesser means. I liked Don and Kim's proposal also but it did not quit capture it as Callum's.
My idea was an adaptation of Walter Mitty (or similar) with a dream world that he escapes in that would be animated. Where he gets the lady in distress and gets more confident in his own personality. Which then grows (confidence) more into real life and and over comes his fear of asking his love interest on a date. Or just having a meaning conversation with her without bumbling his words.
The dilemma would be another bully that gets in the way of him talking to her. The other obstacle in the hero's nervousness. The bully and lady would be firmly featured in his dream world but maybe as an added interest let the 2 merge ? Just an idea that might need more fleshing out.
It would be a good opportunity for a Script Writer, Director, Producer and Animators to get involved. The dreamworld(s) would be fine to do and the added effect of green screen would suit this task. Props and costumes also. But this is just a spec.
When Callum mentioned the alien planet I thought about a bumbling archeologist type of character aka Indiana Jones in space. Give him a virus that he has to get a cure from the planet he landed on. The longer he stays on the planet the worse the virus gets. And he has to work together with his alien partner (which is a ancient relic from that planet) to get an antidote for the virus. Just putting it out there: )
Blog out (for now)

Thanks, Dan. I like the idea of two mortal enemies – the human and alien – working together for a common goal.
