BDM 311 Refelction on Rialto48 2015 edition.

The heats for Rialto48 are happening tomorrow so here is a little reflection on that. V48 or Rialto48 is always a good way of keeping up with filming and being on set. I was not really into doing it this year but I owed someone a favor so I set up helping out that team. It went very smoothly and the team was very organized. Our prop was bread and the genre consisted of science gone mad. After 7PM we brainstormed and ideas got thrown around with our main prop in mind "bread". So we wrote basically about bread and what else we could come up with relating to that. Juggling ideas and story lines is great fun but also sticking to the basic rules of film making need to be observed. And that is not always an easy choice when it comes to this kind of guerrilla film making. Once the script got written me and Corey worked on a shot list till about 4AM in the morning and then got 2 hours sleep. We then got back up at 6AM to further finish the shot list. First shots were done in the Garage at SIT and from there on at crew members houses. The last scenes we again shot at SIT in the production office. You have to be really ingenious with what you do with your time and locations. As 48 hours go very quickly. My main task on the shoot was camera assist and grip. But I also did some BTS (photos) and helped out the gaffer. I did not act in our film so for me that was a relief. We worked very well as a group and some newbies enjoyed it also. I was the Dolly pusher but I got a bit frustrated with the noise of the wheels but as they say that is film.

Blog out.
